Happy 2012! I wish everyone a more blessed and prosperous new year 🙂

Most schools resumed unusually early this year, so I decided to start this new year with a post on Datlik; like I did for CollegeTix. Datlik is the most recent service added to Sylver Productions’ portfolio. An ex-classmate once told me that her lecturer once told the class and I quote, “Whatever you’re doing for free right now, somewhere in the world, someone is getting paid for that service; if you’re good at it, why not get paid for it?”. I can proofread anything and personally, I enjoy it. I used to proofread essays for my colleagues in school with or without their permission lol. I just couldn’t help myself. I apparently did a good job on all of them because no one ever lost marks to typos. The thought came, I have a media firm, might as well add it to the company’s services.

Initially, it was called the EP-Reader Initiative; EP for essay and project. I gave it that geeky name because I wanted it to be a software. A software much like Microsoft Word that could not only proofread, but additionally correct errors. After consulting various friends with degrees in computer science, software engineering and technology, I realized it could not be done. I decided to hire myself, people like myself who enjoyed proofreading as well as English language graduates and majors to work as proofreaders.

Datlik is a name I came up with when I was a lot younger. I was infatuated with computer software and hoped to invent one someday. In the event that I did, I’d call it datlik. I didn’t study computer science and I figured now was as good a time as ever, so I changed the name of the idea from EP-Reader Initiative to something shorter and simpler – Datlik. It is a proofreading service that essentially checks, corrects, manages and/or reviews inconsistency as well as errors in punctuation, spelling, tenses and wordage in electronic documents (blog posts, books, essays, journals, online articles, reports) and web content for students, web managers and writers.

Last year I planned three campaigns; two for CollegeTix and one for Datlik – The Second Look Campaign. In order to get the word out on the service, it started right on schedule (January 7th), and it will continue for another week. I got as many people as cared to participate involved. If you didn’t know about any of the campaigns and would like to help, please follow this link for all the information you’ll need. Thanks a lot in advance. It is being done to primarily advertise the service to students. The tagline is: As a student, you know how much it sucks to lose marks to grammar or spelling mistakes; let us take a second look at your blog post, essay, online article or journal before everyone else esp. your professor does at datlik.sylverpro.com. Like it says on the website, students are not promised perfect scores on their essays and projects (because we do not tamper with their ideas), but they definitely will not lose any marks for poor grammar or spelling mistakes.

I decided to include web content because sometimes web designers are not as interested in the wordage on websites as they are in the design. I figured we might as well offer them the service so they can have their sites professionally proofread, and to the owners as they might want their sites’ contents managed as well. Writers were included because Sylver Productions publishes ebooks, and the final stage of the publishing process is proofreading, so we might as well offer the whole package. We also offer the service to writers of online publications like blogs and ejournals; the last thing they’d want is to lose credibility with their online audience because of a few typos.

That’s about it. If you’re a student, web manager or writer, please feel free to use Datlik. It’s easy and the pricing is quite reasonable too. To fellow entrepreneurs and aspirants, Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your might. Put your whole soul into it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic and faithful, and you will accomplish your object. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm”.

This is a new year with new possibilities; don’t you ever give up.
